I enjoy traditional music, and I am also interested in the topic of women such as Mary Magdalene and Mexico's La Malinche, whose stories, although once powerful, tend to evolve and transform through history in ways that end up portraying them in a negative light. This CD is Raquel Z. Rivera's tribute to the Magdalene and an attempt to reclaim some of her history and power.
